Effect of Vitamin E

I took vitamin E for last two weeks. Because vitamin E is reported to have anti aromatase effect, anti prolactin effect and antioxidant effect. I took one 200 I. U. capsule at night. However, it produced severe joint pain in my left hand wrist area. With this joint pain (may be arthralgia), I am unable to lift certain things. It is severe. The pain is not responding to volini gel. The pain reduced in intensity after I stopped vitamin E.

Positive effects:
1. Slightly improved mood
2. Slightly improved concentration

Negative effects:
1. Slight appearance of non stutterable pause
2. Decreased libido and decreased energy
3. Decreased motivation
4. Severe joint pain in left wrist

  1. Have you checked your fasting glucose levels in the morning? You might be pre-diabetic.
I have had lots of similar symptoms as you. What actually helped was megadosing L-OptiZinc for a while, treating my chronic sinusitis (overactive sinuses = overactive immune system) and eating low GI foods.

"Perhaps anxiety only arises when this glutamate overstimulation specifically occurs in the amygdala, which is the main area of the brain responsible for mediating anxiety. If the glutamate overstimulation happens in other areas of the brain, then maybe different mental symptoms arise, but not anxiety."

"This might explain why sinus inflammation is often linked to anxiety: the sinus cavities lie very close to the amygdala, so inflammation occurring in the sinuses might conceivably precipitate inflammation in the nearby amygdala, causing the amygdala's microglia to activate and pump out glutamate, leading to amygdala overstimulation, and anxiety."
